We're back. After a period of stepping away, Life Abroad has returned — and we've taken the time away to do things right. The site has been rebuilt from the ground up with a completely new design, and we're excited to share it with you.
Life Abroad has always been about one thing: helping international residents navigate daily life in Japan with confidence. That mission hasn't changed. But the way we deliver it has.
A New Look
Here's a look at where we started and where we are now.
Before
After
We always want to be moving forward — and that means making sure the experience we offer keeps getting better. The new Life Abroad is cleaner, faster, and much easier to read — especially on a smartphone. We've also improved navigation so that finding what you need takes fewer clicks.
What's Changed
- Fully redesigned from scratch — every page has been rebuilt for clarity and readability
- Mobile-first — the new design looks and works great on any device
- Easier navigation — content is better organized and faster to browse
- Cleaner typography — longer articles are now much easier on the eyes
What's Coming
The redesign is just the beginning. We're proud to announce that two services we previously ran are coming back — rebuilt from the ground up and better than ever.
OTC Medicine Information
An interactive guide to over-the-counter medications available in Japan — previously launched, now rebuilt and coming back better than ever.
Childcare in Japan
A comprehensive English resource for parents raising children in Japan — from maternity to primary school, rebuilt and relaunching soon.
We'll share more details as launch dates get closer. Stay tuned.
Thank You
To everyone who has used Life Abroad over the years — thank you. Your support and feedback have always been the reason we keep going. We're excited about what's ahead, and we're glad to have you along for the next chapter.
Welcome back.
